Rolando Pérez es profesor de literatura hispanoamericana en el Departamento de Romance Languages de Hunter College (CUNY). Es licenciado en Filosofía por el College of New Jersey, con dos Maestrías, una en Filosofía y otra en Literatura hispánica por la Universidad de Stony Brook (SUNY), y un Doctorado en Literatura española e hispanoamericana por el Graduate Center de la City University of New York. Es autor de más de treinta publicaciones sobre los siguientes temas y figuras literarias y filosóficas: el Neo-Barroco, la relación entre la literatura, las artes visuales y la filosofía, Severo Sarduy, César Vallejo, Alejandra Pizarnik, Octavio Paz, Gilles Deleuze & Felix Guattari, Jean Baudrillard, Alain Badiou, Emmanuel Levinas, y Enrique Dussel. Rolando Pérez es también autor de varios libros de ficción, obras de teatro, y poesía en prosa, entre ellos, The Lining of Our Souls: Excursions into selected paintings of Edward Hopper (Cool Grove Press 2002); The Electric Comedy (una versión postmoderna de la Divina Comedia; Cool Grove 2000); y The Divine Duty of Servants (prosa basada en los dibujos de Bruno Schulz; Cool Grove 1999). Selecciones de algunas de sus obras literarias aparecen en la antología, The Norton Anthology of Latino Literature (2011). Su más reciente publicación se titula Severo Sarduy and the Neo-Baroque Image of Thought in the Visual Arts (Purdue UP, 2011).
